Available soon on coming Ford models, the all-new SYNC 3 communications and entertainment system is faster and more streamlined than Ford's former infotainment interface. Entirely replacing the previous MyFord Touch and SYNC package, SYNC 3 delivers a user-friendly way for you to stay connected to the people and places in your life. Here's what you need to know about the new system.

Taking customer feedback into account, Ford developed a new infotainment system that is vastly improved in several key areas.

Simplified Menu Layout
To streamline the user experience, Ford removed abundant settings and menu layers to reduce complexity. The SYNC 3 menu is pared down and simplified, so you can find what you need and navigate the menu more easily.

Easier to Read
Larger icons and high-contrast fonts, as well as a cleaner design, make SYNC 3's screen easier to read at a glance. This not only means the system is safer to use (requiring less of your attention so your eyes stay on the road), but also faster to navigate through.

Capacitive Screen Replaces Resistive Screen
SYNC 3 doesn't just offer more processing power and quicker touch (and voice) response, it's also more intuitive and tablet-like than before. A new capacitive screen allows drivers to use multi-touch gestures, literally swipe through the menu, and pinch to zoom on maps, functions the old resistive screen couldn't perform.

Ford AppLink Fully Integrated With New System
Previously, AppLink only worked with SYNC, so apps didn't appear on MyFord Touch. Now with SYNC 3 they're fully incorporated, giving tech-oriented shoppers access to the largest suite of in-car accessible apps in the industry - over 60!

More Conversational Voice Recognition Technology
Ford's all-new SYNC 3 system continues to offer voice recognition for hands-free use, but now it's more advanced. The system better recognizes natural speech, so using voice commands to find and play songs or look up businesses and points of interest is easier than before. For example, now when entering an address you can say, "Eleven Twenty-Five Main Street" instead of "One One Two Five Main Street," or "Detroit Airport" instead of nailing the official name of "Detroit Metropolitan Airport."

Microsoft's Windows Embedded Replaced
Unlike the old SYNC and MyFord Touch systems which used a Microsoft platform, SYNC 3 is founded on the BlackBerry QNX operating system.
