Because small SUVs lack the same popularity as the big ones, it should come as no surprise that Ford chose to drop the EcoSport altogether in 2023. In the Ford lineup, it ranked as the smallest and most inexpensive SUV from Ford, but the automaker plans to stop making it after 2022. Most of the time, automakers will give advanced notice about their plans to stop making a model. Usually, they do this up to a year in advance.
Not Enough Power
One of the reasons they have chosen to stop selling it was because of a lack of power. Urbanites in dense cityscapes can move around in it and maneuver more easily, but the convenience of it wasn't enough to save it from its lack of power.
Using a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine, the EcoSport has the least powerful engine on the market. While you could upgrade to a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, it came at an extra cost.
First Arrived in 2018
The Ford EcoSport first rolled onto dealership lots in 2018, but at least in the United States, it never gained a notable following. The swinging rear tailgate was never a popular feature in the US. You could choose to buy it either in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, but it still couldn't gain a big enough following to justify keeping it. With everything said, it doesn't mean that the car won't appeal to some people. In fact, it may have a great appeal for the right person, and if you loved this make, you will want to come to pick it up before they stop selling it at dealerships.
The discontinuation of this vehicle followed after they shuttered their plant in India, where they made the EcoSport. This could largely come from the fact that Ford wants to redirect its energies into a new project that will give them a greater yield.
