Ford Vehicle Service Warning Indicators
Your driving competence will improve if you read this page. It details warning indicators commonly found on dashboards of Ford and other modern vehicles. We will happily assist you with any questions or service needs.

Airbag Fault
If this indicator remains lit after you start your car, your control module has detected a problem in your airbag system. Seek service promptly to avoid an airbag malfunction during a crash.

Low Fuel Level Warning Light
You've seen this light if you've ever tried to run on fumes. We advise against taking that risk. When this light appears, your tank is approaching empty, so stop for gas soon.

Oil Pressure Warning Light
If your car won't start and this light appears, check your oil level. Add oil of the proper viscosity if needed. Alternatively, you may need a new oil pump.

Service Vehicle Soon
Some models use this light to tell you it's time for an oil change. Others activate it when the model's control module notes minor component wear that requires service. For more info, see your owner's manual or visit us.

TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System)
This indicator will illuminate due to insufficient inflation pressure. Safely check and adjust your tires' air pressure. The light should deactivate soon after you restart your drive. If not, your TPMS sensors may be malfunctioning.

Slip Indicator
You'll see this light if your car loses traction on slick roads, and your traction system engages. Once you regain full traction, the light should disappear. If it remains lit, schedule a service appointment. Your traction control or electronic stability control may be malfunctioning.

Charging System Warning Light
Your charging system is an electrical circuit. It includes your car's battery, alternator, and voltage regulator. This light indicates a fault in at least one of those parts or their wiring. Until you address this problem, your car will not operate properly.

Brake System
Many models use this light to indicate a problem with your brake lines. You either have a brake fluid leak, or you need your lines bled. This may be a severe problem, so acquire professional service soon.

Open Door Warning Light
We see this light when we leave a door unsecured. Properly close all doors. On some models, this light also monitors the trunk.

Coolant Level Warning
Low engine coolant activates this light. You need your coolant system serviced for leaks. Do not drive on low coolant. You'll create extreme engine temperatures and serious damage.
