Towards the end of summer 2016, Ford is set to release an all-new performance version of the Fusion that challenges the offerings of certain German models that command a five-figure higher premium. The 2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport delivers a class-dominating 350 pound-feet of torque and 325 horsepower thanks to 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 EcoBoost engine. Using 93-octane fuel boosts the torque to 380 pound-feet, and all that power is sent to each wheel as the Fusion V6 Sport features all-wheel drive as standard equipment.

"Since the newest-generation Fusion launched in 2012, midsize car buyers have been asking for a performance version," said Ford Fusion marketing manager, Wade Jackson in a recent press release. "It's not just Fusion buyers who want something hotter. Owners of other midsize sedans, along with our own dealers, ask repeatedly."

With 93-octane fuel, the Fusion V6 Sport outguns established performance sedans such as the Audi A6 3.0T and the BMW 535i.

"These consumers also crave a car that's much more distinctive inside and out," said Jackson. "Cross-shoppers will be shocked by the bag of the buck our new Fusion Sport delivers."

MSRP for the 2017 Ford Fusion V6 Sport with standard all-wheel drive begins at $33,475.
