After its ground-breaking redesign last year, five big changes are in store for the next Ford F-150. The 2016 model year offers a brand-new Limited trim, which represents the height of luxury among F-150 models. The lineup also gets a new Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, for vastly simplified maneuvering when taking a trailer in reverse. Other notable changes are listed below, as well.
This is everything you need to know about what to expect when the 2016 Ford F-150 comes to Duluth, Georgia, this winter:
CNG/Propane Conversion
CNG and propane offer clean, low-cost performance for truck drivers in Gwinnett County. The 2016 Ford F-150’s new CNG/propane engine prep package is a good investment for those who travel all the time and want to maximize their fuel economy. Plus, with the gaseous-fuel prep option the truck still provides the same towing capacity as regular gas models. F-150s available from the factory with the prep option include models using the 5.0-liter Ti-VCT V-8 engine.
Pro Trailer Backup Assist
With the 2016 F-150’s available new Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, you won’t have to worry about any more time-consuming corrections and maneuvering issues when backing up a truck that has a trailer attached. The feature provides serious precision. Drivers use a knob, which enables very specific direction changes. Plus, the system takes over steering and works with F-150’s rearview camera technology, giving drivers a clear view of where the truck and trailer are headed.
All-New F-150 Limited Trim
The new 2016 Limited trim shows off F-150’s more urbane side. It doesn’t lose an ounce of muscle, but gains a wealth of elegance and sophisticated features. On the exterior, there are LED headlamps, chrome exhaust tips, and a satin-chrome grille and tailgate, while inside it comes appointed with eye-catching fiddlewood eucalyptus trim and Mojave leather upholstery, as well as a special face on the instrument cluster. Several technology must-haves are also included standard on the 2016 F-150 Limited, such as a 360-degree camera, active parking assist, a remote tailgate release and rear cross-traffic alert, among other features.
New SYNC 3 Infotainment System
SYNC with MyFord Touch has been replaced by Ford’s advanced new SYNC 3 system. See details about the new system in our SYNC 3 article here.
XLT & Lariat Special Edition Packages
Special Edition packages have been added for 2016 F-150 XLT and Lariat models. If you desire a more customized truck, the new Special Editions are good options. Each offers smoked headlamps, 20-inch dark-painted aluminum wheels, special badging and body graphics, exclusive Special Edition seats with red bolsters and red contrast stitching, and additional red contrast stitching on the steering wheel, instrument panel and gear selector boot. Additionally, both the XLT and Lariat get aggressive-looking dark anodized grilles. However, the Special Edition F-150 XLT receives a straight black mesh grille, while the Lariat gets red accents on its grille.
