On Aug. 2, 2014, 600 professional cyclists and an estimated 10,000-plus spectators will hit the streets of downtown for a bike race like no other when the City of Duluth hosts the Georgia Cup. The event celebrates fitness and healthy living with an exciting high-speed bike race, as well as a 1K that's open to the public. The action-packed day will also feature food, live music, vendors, face painting and other festivities.
You are invited to sign up for the Gwinnett 1K Walk/Run, which will take place before the twilight bike race. The 1K is designed to promote family fitness and combat health issues like heart disease and diabetes, which affect a high percentage of residents in our city. Families with children are especially encouraged to participate because teaching healthy lifestyles should begin at a young age. If you would like to get involved, it's only $10 to register. Click here to sign up.
Whether young or old, this festival of fitness is a must-attend event for people of all ages. There will be concessions with signature festival foods, a beer and wine garden for adults, and a Kids Corner with inflatables and other fun activities for children.
Plus, you won't want to miss out on seeing hundreds of pro cyclists compete for a $15,000 prize! The bike race draws huge crowds for a reason, so join your community and get swept up in an exciting competition that only happens once a year!
