Specs at a Glance

Both the 2020 Ford Edge SE and the 2020 Ford Edge ST offer many benefits. The SE is the entry-level model of the Ford Edge. While it's very budget-friendly, it comes with a reliable engine, many interior amenities, advanced safety components, and high-tech features. The ST is the top-of-the-line trim of the Edge, and it takes everything to a different level. It has a strong engine, more refined exterior and interior elements, and a comprehensive technology package.

Performance

The Edge SE runs on a twin-scroll two-liter EcoBoost engine that generates 250 horsepower, which is plenty of power for most drivers. With the SE, customers can either choose from all-wheel or front-wheel drive configurations, with the front-wheel drive being the standard option. In comparison, the ST is powered by a 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost engine and is exclusively offered as an all-wheel-drive vehicle. The V6 engine can output an impressive 335 horsepower and 380 pound-feet of torque. Note that the ST is the only Edge trim to come with this more advanced engine. Both the SE and ST engines work in conjunction with an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Appearance

Ford has designed the Edge to live up to its name. With features like Bi-LED low and high beam headlamps, LED taillights, and dual exhaust tips, the SUV looks sharp, bold, and modern. On the 2020 Ford Edge SE, there are black mirror caps, door handles, and beltline molding. The ST has body-color mirror caps and door handles, and the front and rear lower fascias are body-colored as well. Another difference is that the grille of the SE is a bright metal while the ST's grille is gloss black and has an ST logo. Other upgrades on the ST include LED signature lighting and LED fog lamps.

Features

The Ford Edge SE has some excellent amenities, such as push-button start, interior LED lighting, SiriusXM Radio, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and SYNC 3 technology that includes smartphone integration, voice recognition, and Wi-Fi capability. Further, the SE has a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with cross-traffic alert, and a lane-keeping system that will keep drivers centered in their lanes. Some of these features can also be found in the Edge ST, but the ST has many more components. For convenience, it has wireless charging, a hands-free liftgate, remote start, and a universal garage door opener. Its materials are more sophisticated, as it has a leather-wrapped steering wheel that can be heated, leather-trimmed seats with Miko inserts, and heated front seats. In terms of the infotainment system, the Edge ST treats people to a Bang & Olufsen sound system and can be equipped with navigation. Also, many more driver-assist systems are available on the ST.
