There are many ways to configure the new F-150. This truck is available as six main trim models: the base XL, midgrade XLT, stylish Lariat, Western-style King Ranch, posh Platinum, and top-trim Limited. There's also an off-road-specific model - the Raptor. It starts with the XLT equipment and adds trail-friendly gear like Fox shocks and a special four-wheel-drive system.

The XL gives you excellent workhorse - with pre-wired trailer connections and trailer sway control technology - at a fair price. When you choose the midgrade XLT, you get a few more creature comforts, including power accessories and the Sync 3 infotainment system.

The Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited can all be classified as luxury trucks. All include rich leather upholstery and dual-zone automatic climate control. The King Ranch adds some ranch-style décor with special badging and saddle brown leather upholstery. The Platinum adds stylish 20-inch wheels and handsome interior trim with wood and aluminum flourishes. The top-trim Limited comes standard with just about every imaginable luxury feature, including upgraded front-seat leather upholstery and 22-inch wheels.

How Well does the 2020 F-150 Perform?

The base XL model comes standard with a 3.3-liter V6 engine rated for 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. This engine is the only one that works with a six-speed automatic transmission. The other engine options are paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission that combines power with improved efficiency.

Ford also offers a couple of engine options that boost both performance and fuel economy. Upgrade to the 2.7-liter turbocharged V6 engine for 326 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. This engine also helps the F-150 earn up to 22 mpg combined, depending on body style. Then there's the 3.0-liter turbocharged diesel V6 engine, which provides 250 horses and 440 pound-feet of torque for a hefty towing performance. This engine is also the line's thriftiest, giving you up to 30 mpg on the highway.

To take performance to the next level, check out the 5.0-liter V8 engine. With 395 horses and 400 pound-feet of torque, this engine gives you tried-and-true V8 truck performance. The 2020 F-150's most powerful option is the 3.5-liter turbocharged V6. It offers two power ratings. The standard version gives you 375 horses and 470 pound-feet of torque. The high-output version of this engine delivers 510 horses and 510 pound-feet of torque.
