In its 16th year, Gwinnett’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade is aptly themed “What Are You Doing for Others?” The event celebrates Dr. King’s mission to promote equality and inclusion for all, while also acclaiming the importance of bolstering the community by lending a hand to those in need.
The event will take place on Monday, Jan. 18, starting at the Lawrenceville Highway route and concluding at Moore Middle School. Festivities commence at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center, where a program will be held from 9 a.m. to 9:25 a.m. The parade lineup will follow immediately after and the march will begin at 10 a.m. When the parade reaches its end there will be several activities taking place at Moore Middle School for march participants and viewers, including student art displays, a step show and information provided by community outreach organizations.
This year, no trolley service will be provided in the morning, so please make sure to arrange your own transportation ahead of time if you plan to attend the event early. Parking is available nearby at Central Gwinnett High School and the First United Methodist Church of Lawrenceville.
