What's' New For the 2019 Ford Edge?

Introduced in 2009, the Ford Edge enters the 2019 model year with no significant changes as it had achieved a midway point in its second production cycle. It now has more standard and optional features than ever before. While previous second-gen models had the Sport as the top-of-the-line trim, the 2019 Ford Edge has the ST.

2019 Ford Edge Trims & Features

The 2019 Ford Edge is split into four trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, and ST. With two rows of seats accommodating up to five people, the Edge provides 153.1 cubic feet of interior space, with 39.2 cubic feet of it dedicated to cargo volume.

Base-level comfort and convenience features include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, cruise control, remote keyless entry with push-button engine start, FordPass remote access with your smartphone, a Wi-Fi hotspot for 4G LTE Internet access, the SYNC infotainment system, six-speaker audio, AM/FM radio, a USB port for charging smartphones, and a trial subscription to SiriusXM satellite radio.

At the SEL trim level, the Edge is upgraded with a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, a 6-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, premium cloth seat trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, dual-zone automatic climate control, and the SYNC 3 infotainment system.

At the Titanium trim level, the Edge gets 10-way power adjustability (instead of 6-way power) on the front passenger seat, leather seat trim, front-seat heating ability, an additional USB port, a driver-seat memory system, a rear-seat back release feature known as EasyFold, two driver-configurable 4.2-inch LCD displays in the instrument cluster, and a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen premium audio system.

Unique to the ST trim are Miko inserts in the leather seat trim, a perforated leather-wrapped steering wheel with silver stitching and an "ST" logo, a garage-door opener, remote start, and a wireless charging pad.

2019 Ford Edge Horsepower

2019 Ford Edge Exterior FrontWhether you go with the SE, SEL, or Titanium trim, you will get a twin-scroll turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost inline 4-cylinder engine that generates 245 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. The ST trim only gets a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6, which produces 335 horsepower and 380 lb-ft of torque.

Each engine has auto stop-start technology, which shuts it down when coming to a complete stop and turn it back on when you resume driving; this eliminates engine idling and consequently boosts fuel efficiency. Tied to each engine is an 8-speed automatic transmission, which includes a brand-new rotary gear shifter. Front-wheel drive is standard on the SE, SEL, and Titanium; and all-wheel drive is standard on the ST. However, you can opt for the all-wheel drivetrain on the non-ST trims.

Ford Edge Safety

2019 Ford Edge Exterior RearThe 2019 Ford Edge features standard safety features such as a rearview camera, a front safety belt reminder (Belt-Minder), an SOS post-crash alert system, a lane keeping system, a vehicle stability management system with roll stability and curve control (AdvanceTrac), all-wheel anti-lock disc brakes, a blind spot information system with rear cross-traffic alert, MyKey for guiding the habits of teen drivers, hill start assist, a theft-deterrent system with remote keyless entry and a keyless entry pad, and eight airbags (two front impact, two knee, two side-impact, and two roof-mounted side-curtain airbags).

Pre-collision assist with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and evasive steering assist are new standard safety features for the 2019 model year. Only the Titanium has a perimeter alarm, making the theft-deterrent system more robust.
