2021 Ford Escape

What's New For the 2021 Ford Escape?

The addition of some new standard features on lower trims is the most significant change in 2021. A renewed interface on the Escape's 8-inch touchscreen marks another turning point for the model, as it offers one of the easiest to use touchscreen interfaces in its small crossover market. Otherwise, the Escape is still the same refined, luxurious family SUV that it has always been.

2021 Ford Escape Has Abundant Features

The Escape has always had one of the most prolific trim lineups in its class, but this year's lineup includes two more hybrid powertrains. Choose from the S, SE, SE Sport Hybrid, SEL, SE PHEV, SEL PHEV, Titanium, or Titanium PHEV. The addition of electric Escape's to the lineup will entice environmentally responsible buyers (and those folks who want to save money on fuel). The most significant difference in this year's Escape is that it's more upscale. Features like a hands-free power liftgate, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and rear parking sensors make an appearance mid-trim lineup instead of just on the Titanium. This gives shoppers on a budget a better chance to get more luxurious features without breaking the bank.

How Well Does the 2021 Escape Perform?

This year's Escape was all about choice, so you have plenty of engines to choose from. A 181 horsepower turbocharged 1.5L three-cylinder engine is available with front or all-wheel drive. A 2.0L engine is much more powerful. Its turbocharged power nets you 250 horsepower and goes from 0 to 60 in a blinding 5.7 seconds. The transmission this year is a loner: an 8-speed automatic. Hybrid models get a 2.5L 4-cylinder and dual electric motors for a blistering 221 horsepower and better fuel economy.

Ford Escape Safety at the Forefront

It boasts the Ford Co-Pilot360 package that gives you standard BLIS (Blind Spot Information System), forward-collision warning with auto emergency braking, and a suite of lane-keeping and parking systems that rely on exterior sensors to guide your Escape safely to its destinations. A strong safety lineup was essential to keeping the Escape competitive this year, and Ford did not fail their customers in this department.
