For two generations now, the Ford Transit Connect has been an affordable way to transport cargo or carry along a group of people. The 2021 model year welcomes lane-keeping assist as available driver-assistance technology.

Available Features in the 2021 Transit Connect

Available as a two-seater Cargo Van and a six-seater Passenger Wagon (with the option of a seven-seater configuration), the 2021 Ford Transit Connect is available in XL, XLT, and Titanium trim levels. However, note that the Titanium is only available on the Passenger Wagon, which also stands apart from the Cargo Van in having a dual-zone automatic climate control system and an auto-dimming rearview mirror as standard features.

Remote keyless entry enables locking and unlocking with the push of key fob buttons. The infotainment system on the Transit Connect combines a four-speaker AM/FM stereo system, Bluetooth hands-free phone calling and audio streaming, a USB port for hooking up mobile devices, a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot, and a 4.2-inch LCD multi-function display screen.

The XLT enables access by only having the key fob on you. It includes other enhancements such as wireless charging ability, a single-disc CD player, a trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio, two smart-charging USB ports, and an upgrade to SYNC 3 infotainment integration. If you go with the XLT version of the Passenger Wagon, you get a six-speaker stereo system instead of a four-speaker setup. The top-level Titanium has unique features such as leather seat trim, front-seat heating, power adjustability on the driver's seat, a voice-activated navigation system, trial subscriptions to SiriusXM Traffic and Travel Link, and nine speakers.

What's Under the Hood of the Ford Transit Connect?

The powertrain on the 2021 Ford Transit Connect combines a 162-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission, with power sent to the front wheels. There's the option of getting a larger and more powerful workhorse, which is a 169-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine.

Safety Features in the Forefront for 2021

Driver assistance on the 2021 Transit Connect consists of forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a rearview camera, and six airbags to provide protection if a crash occurs. The XLT trim level introduces more robust driver assistance with Ford's Co-Pilot360 suite, which adds automatic high-beam technology, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and the previously mentioned lane-keeping assist. Also, debuting at the XLT trim level is the 911 Assist emergency-assistance system.
